MISSION STATEMENT

Northeast Louisiana Delta Community Development Corporation's mission is to improve the quality of life of Delta residents by helping alleviate poverty and general distress through effective mobilization of resources and the creation of partnerships among government, businesses, public and private institutions, community-based organizations, citizens and others to empower them and to ensure their voice in deciding the direction for their community.


The Northeast Louisiana Delta Community Development Corporation (NELD CDC) has been serving the community since 1995. The organization's expertise includes capacity building, business and workforce development, housing, education and youth development. In delivering these services to the community, NELD CDC works with a variety of organizations to provide small business loans, a matched savings program (IDAs), tutoring, adult literacy, and GED classes, financial literacy, homebuyers' education classes and a variety of workshops and seminars. NELD CDC has also established a business incubator and Farmer's Market.

The overall goal of the program is to increase long-term employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for residents. Each of the community projects NELD CDC sponsors uniquely addresses nine key principles:

Programs and Partnerships

The NELD CDC, the Center works through a variety of organizations to make an economic impact on the communities it serves. Below are just a few of the community projects NELD has initiated

Delta Learning & Resource Center

As a project of the NELD CDC, the center offers education, job training, community services, micro enterprise development and homebuyer education. The Delta Learning & Resource serves the residents of Madison, East and West Carroll, Richland, Tensas, Concordia and Franklin parishes.

First Step FastTrac

First Step FastTrac is a practical, comprehensive and effective business development program designed to assist entrepreneurs in getting their business off on the right track or to foster skills needed to grow the business. FastTrac helps entrepreneurs and business owners research, evaluate and implement a strategic business planning and operational plan. FastTrac offers entrepreneurs encouragement and contributes to long-term viability or their businesses.

Homebuyers Education Classes

Everyone deserves a chance at home ownership. The staff and programs at NELD are providing community residents the information required to become homeowners. The course provides information for creating a budge, securing a loan or shopping for your dream house.

Delta Builders and Supply Center

The Delta Builders and Supply Center is a collaborative project between Louisiana Tech College - Tallulah and NELD. Utilizing the Youth Build Implementation Grant, the program offers participants' on-site construction trades training and the opportunity to contribute to the community through the building of affordable housing. The program is a comprehensive and integrated effort to increase leadership and vocational skill levels.
